December LEC Recap & Proposed Bylaws

The LEC conveined for their final meeting of the 2020 year last night and there were many things discussed. Attached Here are the full December LEC notes, but below are some quick highlights.

Bylaws Resolution

The LEC passed a motion that moves the attached bylaws (Lodge_Bylaws_Resolution_Winter_2020-21) to a lodge-wide vote at the Winter Conclave. The vote will take place on Sunday Morning at the Lodge Business Meeting. The current Bylaws can be found under the resources tab for reference as well. If you have any questions regarding these proposed changes, please contact the Lodge Bylaws Review Committee Chairman, Carson, at it@uhtoyehhuttee.org

Upcoming Events

The Winter Conclave will be taking place January 8th through the 10th at Camp Soule. Expect fun games, trainings, and more in addition to the usual service projects. There will be a Broken Arrow ceremony taking place Saturday afternoon. Registration is now open, but you must pay your 2021 dues prior to registering. Registration will close 1 week before the event.

A Year’s End – A Thriving Lodge!

The Lodge has officially recharted as a thriving lodge! Think of the thriving lodge as a Journey to Excellence equivalent in scouting. It means we’ve gone above expectations and achieved great heights as an organization, all during a pandemic. Not many lodges achieved thriving status this year, but Mr. Daggett has already charged the LEC with reaching High Performing status next year. Overall, it’s been a great year in the lodge, and on behalf of the LEC and the Lodge Chief, we’d like to wish you a Happy Holiday Season!

Section Conference 2020 Recap

While it may have been delayed and moved online, Echockotee Lodge put on a stellar Section Conference event. The trainings were informative, but they managed to pack some good competition in with a Section S-4 Kahoot and an around your home Scavenger hunt. The Section elections still took place, and Adam L has been elected our new Section Chief. You can read more about that on the Section S-4 website here.

For Lodge competitions, we competed in multiple categories including Best All Around Lodge and the Section Website Competition. We placed 1st in the Section Website Competition.

Currently, Section Conference 2021 is scheduled for April 9-11, 2021 and will be hosted by Tipisa Lodge at camp La-No-Chee. This can still change depending on the world situation as we approach the date, so stay tuned for more information.

2021 Dues & ArrowPass

You can now pay your 2021 Lodge dues! Dues are $15 this year. You must be a current dues paying member to attend any events, including the Winter Weekend (Conclave). You can either pay dues in person at an event or pay them online here: Pay 2021 Lodge Dues

2021 Arrowpass

ArrowPass is another option to paying dues. ArrowPass pays your dues, registration for 5 Lodge events, and guarantees a patch from each event as well. Think of it as a pre-pay option to your event registrations. This year ArrowPass is being offered at $120. If you choose to buy ArrowPass, you do NOT need to pay dues separately. Learn more and purchase 2021 ArrowPass here: Purchase 2021 ArrowPass (ArrowPass needed to be purchased by January 3, 2021).

Fall Conclave 2020 Recap

This past weekend the lodge gathered at Camp Owen J. Brorein for our Fall event.  We offered both Ordeal and Brotherhood opportunities and provided much needed service to the camp.  The lodge contributed over 500 hours of service to the camp over the span of just one day.  Service mostly consisted of burning brush, splitting logs, moving downed trees, and mulching branches.  The lodge welcomed 67 new members upon the completion of their ordeal and 14 members sealed their membership in the OA with brotherhood.  So many people attended the weekend that two Ordeal ceremonies had to be held.

In addition to our weekend of service, everyone also found time to have some great fun.  The basketball court and trading post at Brorein was a hot spot at the end of the day, and dinner on Saturday proved to be a great fellowship opportunity for everyone's chapter.

At the weekend, we all made sure to follow the GTBAC and National OA guidelines on Covid-19. Although the event was only one night, it was a great success.  It offered brotherhood and fellowship in a time we need it the most.

Vigil Nominations Are Open

Click here to nominate an Arrowman

Nominations need to be received by October 3, 2020

The Vigil Honor is the highest honor that the Order of the Arrow can bestow upon its members for service to lodge, council, and Scouting. Membership cannot be won by a person's conscious endeavors. The Vigil Honor is a high mark of distinction and recognition reserved for those Arrowmen who, by reason of exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest, have made distinguished contributions beyond the immediate responsibilities of their position of office to one or more of Uh-To-Yeh-Hut-Tee Lodge, the Order of the Arrow, the Scouting community and Scout Camp.

Each year the lodge is allowed to nominate one member for every fifty active members of the lodge (rounded up to next fifty). Under NO circumstances should tenure in Scouting or the Order of the Arrow be considered as reason enough for a Vigil Honor nomination. A nominee must currently be registered in Scouting, be member of the Order of the Arrow, active with  Uh-To-Yeh-Hut-Tee Lodge and been a Brotherhood member for a minimum of two years. Recipients of the Vigil Honor will be selected by secret ballot cast by the youth members of the selection committee. The results of the election will be secret until the recipients are called out before the Lodge assembled for that purpose.
